Tango Dancing
Tango can be danced in the traditional way to traditional tango music in a close embrace, but it can also be danced in a more open frame to virtually any music that you love! At City Dance, we feel that the Argentine Tango is the easiest dance to learn and the most versatile and fun of all the dance styles. Jens and Heather have trained extensively in the USA and Mexico to perfect their tango skills and enjoy both teaching and performing it as often as possible!
Ballroom Dancing
Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world. Because of its performance and entertainment aspects, ballroom dance is also widely enjoyed on stage, film, and television. City Dance Studio teaches ballroom Dancing styles including Waltz, Foxtrot, Slow Fox, Tango, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz.
Latin Dancing
Latin dance refers to types of ballroom dance and folk dance that (with few exceptions) originated in Latin America. The category of Latin dances in the international dancesport competitions consists of the cha-cha-cha, rumba, samba, paso doble, and the jive. Social Latin dances (Street Latin) include salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, bachata, bomba, plena, and the Argentine tango. City Dance Studio offers classes in Salsa, rumba, Bachata, Kizomba, Paso Doble, Jive, Merengue, ChaChaCha and Samba.
Swing Dancing
Swing Dance is a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazz music in the 1920s-1940s, with the origins of each dance predating the popular “swing era”. Today, the most well-known of these dances is the Lindy Hop, which originated in Harlem in the early 1930s. We offer entertaining and invigorating swing dance classes in East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing.
Country Dancing
Country Dance refers to any of a large number of social dances of the British Isles in which couples dance together in a figure or “set”. The term applies to dances in line formation, circle dances, square dances and even triangular sets for three couples. However the most common formation is the “longways” set in which men and women form two lines facing each other. Country dance styles are a great way to have fun, get your exercise, and socialize, while learning how to dance the 2-Step, Triple 2-Step, Polka and Night Club 2.
